Banana pudding is quintessentially a Southern dessert, loved by many for its creamy layers of vanilla-flavored custard and contrast of textures , which comes from my cookie preference, Nilla Wafers. I make my own pastry cream and fluffy toasted meringue. No boxed puddings here! Serve slightly warm (just a touch, and the winning preference) topped with my special banana-flavored whipped cream or straight out of the fridge. It’s delicious either way! Tastebuds never lie. Just take it from my opponent who said, “This person isn’t from Brooklyn, somebody’s grandmother made this for them so they could win.” She was right – kind of. See, this banana pudding recipe was not only passed down to me, but my ancestors blessed my hands, and I cook with love.
